Principles of Community for Social Media
Caltech social media channels are environments where we want to encourage curious, thoughtful dialogue about topics related to scientific discovery and the Caltech experience.
We are excited to encourage dialogue, however it’s important to note that posts and comments made on Caltech social media channels are not representative of the opinions of Caltech, nor do we confirm their accuracy.
We encourage every member of the Caltech community (that includes you!) to abide by the Caltech Honor Code, which states: “No member of the Caltech community shall take unfair advantage of any other member of the Caltech community."
The moderators of Caltech channels are committed to maintaining an environment that is safe for all participants, though it should be noted that we cannot monitor every posting and conversation. We expect page participants will refrain from posting content that falls into the following categories, and we reserve the right to remove postings that are:
- Abusive, defamatory, or obscene
- Fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading
- In violation of any intellectual property right of another
- In violation of any law or regulation
- Off-topic to the general spirit of the page or conversation to which they’re posted, or which may be viewed as spam
- Otherwise offensive
We reserve the right to block users who do not abide by these principles in order to provide a welcoming experience for the rest of the community.
